King George V was a solid and reliable King
In fact he was quite unlike his playboy Father.
Although his personal life was respectable (he married his late brothers fiancee Mary of Teck.).
his life was anything but dull -
He was King during World War 1 and during the Irish Rebellion.
He Also relinquished his German Titles and changed the name of the Royal House from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor and lived through a great deal of social and economic upheaval .
He suffered badly from Ill Health and the events of the 1910 to 1920s had changed the very character of Britain.He was the only Emperor to actually be present at his own Durbar ( a huge spectacle of Princes,elephants and processions) where he was crowned with the Imperial Crown of India.
